About Waterjet Cutting & Cutting Speeds

Our Waterjet cutting machines are equipped high pressure Waterjet cutting systems. The systems made by Waterjet are known for ease of use, intelligent design and reliability. These systems have been proven useful in the most demanding ultra high speed robotic systems and in high volume 1-D, 2-D and multiple axis production environments for cutting metal, glass, ceramics, plastics, composites as well as fresh produce and other products.

Why Waterjet?

Companies have been using Waterjet systems with great effectiveness for more than 40 years. The flexibility and reliability of the process enables it to be used in both high volume production situations and in lower volume custom creative applications. In fact, innovative companies across the globe are still finding new applications to improve their production and achieve a higher level of efficiency and profitability. To dare the health, growth and survival of most industrial manufacturers, job and machine shops in the material separation, forming and fabricating business are premised on Waterjet cutting apart-namely:

  • Cost Saving
  • Versatility/flexibility
  • Precision or near neat shape cutting
  • Waterjet's ability to cut almost any material in a thickness range from thin foils up to 150 mm and even more, and
  • Waterjet's ability to complement other processes such as Laser machining, plasma cutting and punch pressing

Main Benefits of Waterjet Cutting

  • Extremely fast transition from drawing to cutting
  • Faster setup-low tangential forces often eliminate the need for clamping
  • igh accuracy-eliminates secondary cutting
  • Fast Cutting Speed
  • Eliminates the need to sharpen tools
  • Safer for operators and the environment
  • Avoid vapour, Dust and smoke and does not require expensive coolants.
  • Cold cutting process - eliminates heat affected zones, hardened material and material stress.
  • Clean finished product eliminates any need for secondary cleaning operations.
  • Burr free finish-eliminates any need for secondary surface finishing for most applications
  • Small kerfs
  • Ideal for quick prototype, flexible production and proven for high volume production
  • Optimum material utilization with CAD/CAM software
  • Customized system solutions

The biggest advantage of this technology over others material separation technologies is that this is a cold cutting process. This technology would be used where shearing, machining

Pure water cutting
This method is primarily used for cutting soft materials such as rubber, foam, leather, gasket etc. In this, water is pressurize at a ultra-high pressure level to form an intense cutting stream which moves at very high speed to cut at high feed rates.

Abrasive cutting
This provides the best cutting solution for hard material that can not be machined with water only. In this, water nozzle is replaced by abrasive cutting head which produces coherent, extremely energetic abrasive jet stream This method is ideal for cutting pattern in stone, glass, ceramics etc. The machine can cut high tensile steel up to 50 mm, normal metal up to 70 mm and ferrous metal up to 120 mm.
